Build Practical Plumbing Skills for Your Next Step

Perhaps you want a career that gives you more independence. Perhaps you already work on properties and want to handle more of the plumbing yourself. Or perhaps you have been thinking about learning a trade and need somewhere to start.

At YTA, you learn by getting into the workshop and doing the work, with experienced instructors there to demonstrate, guide and help you improve. Our plumbing courses in Bradford, West Yorkshire give beginners and developing tradespeople a practical way to build skills step by step.

Start with five days to build your foundations, or choose ten days for the foundation and advanced training together. If you are serious about taking your skills into business or employment, consider the ten-day course with the Ofqual-regulated Ascentis Level 1 qualification option.

The prices below include VAT and apply to courses starting from October 2026. The one-day taster remains £200. September prices for the longer courses are shown below the course options.

September 2026 starts: £700 for the five-day foundation or advanced course, £1,400 for the ten-day non-accredited course, or £1,800 for the ten-day Level 1 option, including VAT. Your course start date determines the price.

What Could You Learn?

Our foundation training covers practical work relevant to bathrooms, kitchens and everyday property maintenance. Depending on the course you choose, you can develop skills in:

• Measuring, cutting, bending and joining copper and plastic pipework.
• Working with bathroom fittings, taps, wastes and water supplies.
• Installing and moving radiators and towel radiators.
• Approaching common repairs and checking your work.

The advanced week develops your understanding further, including stored hot-water systems, indirect cylinders, header tanks and gravity-fed hot-water supplies. The individual course pages explain the practical content in detail.

Considering a Plumbing Business? Look Closely at Level 1

If your ambition is to offer plumbing services or take your skills into employment, we recommend considering the Level 1 option when booking the ten-day course. You are already committing to the practical training; the additional £400 including VAT gives you the assessment route towards a named qualification.

More familiar with City & Guilds? Ascentis is also an Ofqual-recognised awarding organisation. When comparing training, look at the exact qualification, level, content and assessment: qualifications at the same level can serve different purposes.

If an employer or insurer asks about your training, you can give them the qualification title and details of your assessment. Check their requirements for the work you intend to undertake.

Build a Broader Service: Get a Fifth Week Free

Would you like to develop the skills to handle more of a bathroom replacement or property refurbishment? Combining plumbing with another trade can help you work towards that goal.

Under our current offer, book and pay in full for four eligible weeks and receive a fifth standard week free. A ten-day course counts as two weeks. Prices in the example below apply to starts from October 2026.

Example: Plumbing, Tiling and a Free Plastering Week

• 10 Day Intensive Plumbing Course: £1,500.
• 10 Day Intensive Tiling Course: £1,500.
• 5 Day Plastering Course: free under the offer, usually £750.

25 training days for £3,000 including VAT, saving £750 against the usual £3,750. These three courses are non-accredited with certificate of attendance. Choose Level 1 in plumbing for an additional £400, making the package £3,400 including VAT.

How to Arrange Your Free Week

1. Choose the dates for your four paid weeks at the bottom of the individual course pages. Check that your courses do not overlap, add them to your cart and pay in full.
2. Leave the free week out of your cart.
3. Email or call YTA when you book, or immediately after payment. Give us your name, telephone number, paid booking details, chosen free course and preferred start date shown on its course page.
4. YTA will check availability, manually book your free week and confirm it with you. Completing checkout for the paid courses does not automatically reserve the bonus week.

Can I start with no plumbing experience?

Yes. The one-day taster, five-day foundation and full ten-day programmes welcome beginners. The separate advanced week requires foundation skills; contact YTA first if you want to join it using existing experience.
